Shearwater - Bush Hall pictures

I was rocking a heavy fever during this gig. And my photographer didn't show (hence the 7.2mp masterclass you see before you). Whine, whine, whine. Still enjoyed the evening thanks to The Costantines (whom my blur-o-vision pictures do no justice) and Shearwater both playing excellent rocking sets. Didn't expect Shearwater to rock quite so hard, to play as much Winged Life stuff, or to miss out 'Home Life' from the set. But if you don't want suprises, don't leave the house.

They're back in November playing St Giles in the Fields, another hand-picked venue that should suit their sound very well. If you missed them at EoTR, or here, this is your last chance to see them this year. Don't let the credit crunch eat your lunch. Get your card out, o.k?

Thinking about a comp I had

Made a couple of beauties over the last few days, to replace a dodgy tape I sent someone that sounds a bit muffled. Took some pictures of the front covers (too much time on my hands? Rilly?); then realised the back covers looked better inverted, looking sort of like little chalkboards with neon writing.

Going away on a strange day

As I have been looking after my nephew over the last few weeks, the number of shows and records I've been able to fire out reviews on has fallen a bit. The little promotions adventure I'd been planning at the Good Ship has also had to go on the back burner too. Things are tight right now. So tight that my last festival of the summer has been and gone this weekend.

Offset was a very good experience, the best festival I've been to since Pheonix 96, I think. The photos I have are frankly NSFW, but believe me, you'll not struggle to find pictures of the Bands at Offset on Flickr. I've dug a few choice links out now for you, from my shows of the weekend.

It'd be good to see some video of this set. They had *lots* of energy.

"You're never more than 3ft away from a photographer at Offset"

My sister procured Metallica tickets today. This is very exciting news, especially as everyone is telling me Death Magnetic is a return to form. I'll keep you posted on it.

I'm also going to Shearwater at Bush Hall (and still looking for a photographer, I've got a photo pass lined up if if anyone is interested), and potentially their free show at Rough Trade East. There is also a Marion show in October at The Metro in London that I may go to if funds allow. It's definitely a push to put the second Marion rarities post up, anyway.
